If you're preparing for a Permanent Change of Station (PCS), this checklist will walk you through everything you need to know. Whether it’s your first move or your fifth, staying organized will make the journey smoother for you and your family.

🗓 8–12 Weeks Before PCS

• 📋 Confirm Orders: Make sure you have written orders before taking any action.
• 🏠 Meet with Transportation Office (PPSO/TMO): Schedule a briefing and choose your move type — government (HHG), DITY/PPM, or hybrid.
• 🏡 Start Housing Research: Reach out to base housing or a Military Relocation Professional.
• 📍 Research Your New Duty Station: Look into schools, commute times, cost of living, and BAH rates.
• 🛑 Update DEERS, EFMP, and TRICARE: Start enrollment or update your records.

🗓 6–8 Weeks Before PCS

• 🚚 Schedule Movers: Confirm pack-out and delivery dates if using government movers.
• 🧾 Organize Important Documents: Keep orders, IDs, passports, and medical records in one place.
• 🐾 Pet Prep: Arrange transport, vet visits, and required documents for pets (especially OCONUS).
• 📦 Declutter: Donate, sell, or trash items you won’t take with you.
• 🏫 Notify Schools: Request withdrawal papers and transcripts.

🗓 4–6 Weeks Before PCS

• 🔌 Schedule Utility Disconnections: Cancel internet, water, and electric for move-out day.

• ✉️ Change of Address: Notify USPS, banks, and subscription services.
